We are all huddled in the shadows of the corridor waiting to board the boat. The sky is still a blazing blue, the air is very clear, well, only slightly dusty when vehicles pass on the road nearby.

There has been a drought in this area for the past three years. The water level of Lake Mead has dropped over 75 feet. Inside the souvenir shop is a newspaper photo of the marina being towed into deeper water so the boats can continue to moor on the lake.
